Say Hello to Dr. Belle!

Using a child-centered, evidence-based approach, Dr. Belle focuses on improving pelvic floor coordination, body awareness, breathing patterns, and functional strength. Treatment emphasizes education, behavioral strategies, and age-appropriate exercises, with close collaboration between the child, caregivers, and medical providers. Pediatric pelvic floor therapy is always performed in a gentle, noninvasive manner, prioritizing comfort, safety, and dignity.

Dr. Belle is passionate about helping children and families better understand how the body works, reducing stigma around bladder and bowel issues, and empowering kids with the tools they need for long-term success. She values interdisciplinary care and frequently collaborate with pediatricians and specialists to support each child’s overall health and well-being.

PEDIATRICS - WHAT WE TREAT

🚻 Bladder-related issues

  • Daytime urinary incontinence

  • Urgency / frequency (overactive bladder)

  • Voiding dysfunction (can’t relax pelvic floor to pee)

  • Urinary retention or incomplete emptying

  • Recurrent UTIs tied to poor emptying

  • Bedwetting when there are also daytime symptoms

💩 Bowel-related issues

  • Chronic constipation

  • Stool withholding

  • Encopresis (fecal soiling)

  • Painful bowel movements

  • Difficulty coordinating pushing vs relaxing

🔄 Bladder–bowel dysfunction

  • Combined urinary + stool symptoms (super common)

  • Kids who “hold everything” all day

  • Symptoms that didn’t resolve with meds alone

🧠 Pelvic floor coordination problems

  • Dysfunctional voiding (pelvic floor contracts instead of relaxing)

  • Poor awareness of pelvic muscles

  • Difficulty sensing bladder or rectal fullness

😖 Pain & musculoskeletal issues

  • Pelvic, abdominal, or perineal pain

  • Pain with urination or bowel movements (noninfectious)

  • Postural issues affecting pelvic mechanics

  • Core weakness affecting continence

🩸Period Care

  • Painful periods

  • Pain with insertion of period products

  • Education on how to use menstrual products like tampons, cups, and discs

PEDIATRIC TREATMENT

🛠️ What therapy actually looks like

This surprises a lot of people—no invasive internal exams in most pediatric cases.

  • Education using kid-friendly language

  • Timed voiding and bowel programs

  • Breathing coordination

  • Toilet positioning

  • Biofeedback through RealTime Ultrasound

  • Relaxation training (not “Kegels” for most kids!)

  • Core and hip strengthening

  • Behavior coaching + caregiver education

🚫 What they don’t treat alone

  • Structural abnormalities (e.g., posterior urethral valves)

  • Untreated neurologic disease

  • Active infections
    (these need medical management first)

💡 Big takeaway

A huge number of pediatric “accidents” are coordination problems, not behavior problems—and pelvic floor PT helps kids learn how their bodies work, without shame.
